The historic barn was used as a workshop and part of it was demolished following a fire. The Council considered the building to be a non-designated heritage asset as it was of a similar age as three nearby Listed Buildings. Residential use was considered a good planning use for the building to protect the heritage asset. Support was obtained from the Council's Conservation and Planning Officers. In order to provide a reasonable level of accommodation the Council supported an extension on the footprint of the fire damaged part of the building.
